The Blue House(the Korean executive office) would be launching a big patriotism campaign this April. So, as their method for promoting patriotism to youngsters, they are considering having a popular singer to write a rap song about patriotism and sing it. And that popular singer happens to be Big Bang.
Big Bang would write a song like “Right On, Korea!” for the country and several other popular singers, as well as Big Bang themselves, would sing it publicly. They might also write songs praising patriots like Kim Ku and Ahn Joonggeun (I know that y’all Japanese people might get controversial on this topic. Just chill.), promoting their patriotic acts.
Alright, I gotta admit that I’m a big patriot myself too. I love America and I always will. But you just can’t force patriotism on people. I’m sad that Big Bang is being used like this. Sob Sob.

P.S Punk and goth aren’t about hating the world. I hate to define punk, because defining punk would be an oxymoron, but it’s about free-thinking and being rebellious against the injustice in the society. I’m not saying that there aren’t any conservative punks like Johnny Rotten but I won’t go into any more details. Goth has nothing to do with hating the world, as opposed to the MTV stereotype. It’s about finding beauty in artistic, romantic, dark things. Do some research on various subcultures and you will understand other people way better, trust me.

I’m just reading your stories here and I was enjoying until I read that comment by WellWellWell.. about how goths and punks hate everyone, hate the world? Right, I’m not really punk/goth/scene but a lot of my friends are, I’m more like alternative, and I just want to say Go You for your response about what punk and goth actually is.
I’m not a patriot though. I live in the Netherlands.

I didn’t know that there was a lot of punk/goth/emo/scene people in the Netherlands. Well it’s a good thing since the scene here in America is slowly dying, thanks to the mallpunks and mallgoths. Emo’s been dead. Alternative…Dunno. Haven’t seen them for 3 years. I don’t know, it is because I live in the South where everyone is either ghetto or preppy poser? I feel like I’m the only rocker chick in the Deep South. Kids here don’t appreciate good music! Well at least I know that the scene is well alive there=)

This is a very liberal country, but it might be getting a bit out of hand? Dunno if you’ve heard about Geert Wilders/Fitna. A lot of muslims and muslimcountries are angry now (just an example). But they keep quiet, idk. And more scenepeople keep popping up ! Kyaa everyone used to be casual/preppy here but now a lot of people are goth and scene and whatnot. I’m happy about that, but I understand the mallpunk/goth problem -_-” sigh. But no I’m not the only rockerchick here, maybe you should try to convince your parents to move someplace better then ^^ (or on your own, idk your age). I wanna move someday, fersure.

And I agree with you that some Americans can’t just use the correct grammar. They can’t even say “you’re”; they say “your”. Makes us look really dumb, I hate it.
Haven’t heard about Geert Wilders/Fitna. Can you tell me more about that? Or maybe I should go looking that up on the web. I heard that there’s a lot of Muslims living in Europe though. Do people get mad at that in your country? I know that some British people are b/c I met some British people on web and they were really racist.

Well.. people say they don’t mind all the immigrants, but a lot of people are kindof racist, in a way. We’re still quite tolerant in general, we don’t mind seeing them walking around and everything (only about half of the students at my school is white/dutch and i don’t mind at all. Just because it’s a fun school ^^) but almost everyone hates the groups of immigrants that seriously misbehave. However, as long as they behave normally, and thankgod most of them do, people don’t really care! (except for the neonazi’s *_* haha) I say drown all the big assholes, foreigner or Dutch.

@Mikki: Wow. Gosh I remember immigrant students getting special treatment in my elementary school in sweet ole Midwest. People were nicer toward immigrants than they were toward Americans. Yeah, because I was an Asian American I sometimes got special treatments too, thanks to our warm-hearted Midwesterners assuming that I was probably some poor orphaned refugee from a war-torn Asian country or something…HAHA=) Your country sounds like the American South! People say they don’t mind immigrants(which in our case are mostly Hispanics and Asians), but they start hating on them once they start talking in their native language(I don’t understand this; what’s wrong with them speaking in their native language b/c they don’t know English?) and fooling around and stuff…But most native Georgians are pretty nice. But if you go to like Alabama or Ohio(by far the most racist state in US), the KKK will come and lynch you if you’re not white.
There are Neo Nazis in The Netherlands? Wow! I thought there were some big resistant movements during the Nazi reign era. But I guess things change. There are Neo Nazis everywhere, even in Japan. Right now in America, there aren’t so many Neo Nazis, but some stupid white kids who whine about Affirmative Action and such become like Nazi skinheads or Nazi punks to look cool. Real punks/skins hate them and call them “boneheads” or scream “Nazi Punks Fuck Off!” in their face…hahaha

@Mikki: Alright, did some research on the whole Fitna thing… I mean, I don’t mind that Wilders doesn’t like Islam; he can have his own opinion. I know that Muslim readers might get mad at my response but we just can’t force everyone to like something; that’s fascism. But when he labels all Muslims as terrorists, that’s not right. And “a ban of 5 years on the founding of mosques?” Oh geez. I don’t mind the whole film thing though. Freedom of Speech. As long as he’s not producing encouraging hate movies like “lEtZ kIll dA MuZliMz” or going around shooting Muslim kids, I don’t mind that that much.
Can I be honest with you? Don’t get mad at me. He’s not a Libertarian, that’s for sure. Libertarians seek individual liberty. What he’s trying to do is to oppress some of the Dutch citizens’ one basic individual right; the freedom of religion.
But it’s funny that the al-Qaeda is trying to assassinate him. Haha. That’s going to make more Dutch people think Muslims are terrorists.

Oke so I never want to go to Ohio or Alabama now, that’s for sure o_o but the situation you described and the one here are not entirely the same! We don’t give immigrants special treatments haha, and we really don’t mind immigrants, unless they misbehave. There’s just 2 ethnic groups that most people are not too happy with; maroccans & antilleans, but then I’m talking about the ones who don’t go to school and just hang around on the streets all day). But it’s still a nice gesture xD special treatments for Asian-Americans.
But the nazis haha, there are nazis/hardcorehooligans here. Quite a lot of hooligans, not that much nazis, you don’t normally see them! But Holland/Belgium/Germany/England do have a lot of them. They have secret meetings and say all kinds of creepy stuff; their leader is a Hitler lookalike, it’s quite funny actually. Not that I agree with it, I just think it’s pathetic. I’m not Asian or anything, I’m just Dutch. Not 100% but I’m definitely born and raised here, and I look Dutch too, so I don’t have any bad experience with them! And thankgod x_x but actually people like asians here, well most of them do. Because in general the ones that are living here they’re smart, nice and quite civilized. My best friend is Indonesian, she’s really intelligent and everything *__*.
I don’t mind people speaking in their own language! I wish I could do the same; but I do hate it when I’m sitting in the bus/tram and there are these dudes who start speaking in idkwhatlanguage, and then it’s obvious they’re talking about me. That’s just really awkward and uncomfortable; they might be saying all kinds of weird/mean things about me.. Me and my friend practice French as our ’secret language’ but that’s not so useful, since everyone learns french here *useless*. I’ve seen a video about NaziPunksFuckOff btw.. I hate nazipunks, actually I think nazis and real punks have hardly anything in common.
And I won’t get mad at you, haha don’t worry. I don’t mind what you say about Wilders! Maybe he’s not a Libertarian, he’s just really rightwing. He’s right about some things, but he’s just handling it all wrong in my opinion. It is true that there’s a lot of mosks here now, and muslimpeople want more rights.. and they have a lot of rights, they have the right to be muslim, to cover themselves up, to speak their own languages, go to school and work, the have mosks.. Of course some of them are victims of racism.. but nazis and hooligans can fuck off, they disgust me. I just think whether you are Dutch or immigrant doesn’t matter, if you’re not willing to behave, be respectful, and go to school (etc).. just leave. Have no clue where they should go haha, but I don’t want them here. Crimerate is just rising, it sucks.

Seriously, people down here in the American South sounds exactly like Dutch people! Only that they’re more right-wing and a little bit more racist, should I say. People really don’t care what immigrants do here though. But everyone hates illegal immigrants b/c they think they’re getting all the benefits without paying taxes. It’s kind of discriminating in some sort of way because now people think every Hispanic-looking person is an illegal alien when there are illegals from other parts of the world too. Does people in your country hate illegals too?
I too hate it when people talk about me in their own language. It’s so annoying. But then maybe I’m a little bit too paranoic…HAHA.
I HATE racists! I’m against all race supremacists. Preserving your own race? Yeah, go buy some island of your own, set up your own country with your own system and you’re welcomed to do whatever you want. But America (and I guess Netherlands too) is a very diverse nation of many different races and ethnic groups and you can’t drive out all the other races just because you want to “preserve” yours. I even hate Asian supremacists.

Heard that your government caught some terrorists who were planning a secret attack on the news. My punk friends tell me that I should never trust a mainstream media but sometimes it’s a good source of information of what’s going on in the world…Haha. So I guess they really are planning some secret attack or bombing or kidnapping Dutch tourists or whatever crap they’re trying to do…Urgh.
How do you Dutch people speak English so well anyway? I watched this documentary that contained interviews with people who were close to Anne Frank and one of her guy friends spoke English with a perfect American accent. Other people spoke English quite well too…sometimes their English was better than Americans’! Just wondering.=)

Hmm what should I say about illegal immigrants.. actually I don’t know what people here think about it, but I’m not too happy about it if they’re here for no reason. I mean if they’re homecountry is not safe and they need a place to stay, sure, stay here, we’ll take care of you *__* but just for fun or because life is better here, without paying taxes? Hmm.. we have to work had to pay for their food too, that’s a disadvantage of a socialistic society. Nobody in the Netherlands is supposed to be homeless, if there is a homeless person it’s more or less his/her own fault, that’s how the system works here.. kindof. But I do agree: it’s so sick if you’re willing to massmurder to preserve your own race *cough-hitler-cough*. Whatever, as long as people live together in peace. I think that’s a beautiful thing. And I wouldn’t want to be bashed for dating someone who’s not Dutch/white. But it’s the same for gay people; in some places there’s so much hatred towards them, I think it’s ridiculous.

Our English, thanks, hihi. Swedish people are good at English aswell. But really I háte the accent when Dutch people speak English. That’s what bothers me, but the English itself is alright I guess. We’re very international and open to things, that’s probably why. I go to a bilingual school for example, and we do exchanges with England, and this year we need to go somewhere to do a short internship, so I’ll be leaving for Canada in 3/4 weeks!

@Mikki: Your country’s socialist? I thought you guys had a capitalist economy. Well, it sucks that we have to pay for lazy people who aren’t willing to get a job. I mean our economy is really bad and all, but Obama’s working on creating jobs(I think he’s just feeding corporations our taxes these days though) and things are probably a lot better than before, when Bush was in control… I do not hate on illegal immigrants unnecessarily either. If there is some Hitler v.2 in your home country murdering people and shipping them off to concentration camps, then I’m fine with it. But if you’re just here because you were too lazy to find a decent job in your country, then you might want to go back and get a legal visa.
And I wouldn’t want to be bashed for dating someone who’s not Asian either. Some Asian FOBs at my school are so racist, esp. against black people, but I’d date a black guy if he had a great personality. I hate homophobics too. I mean not everyone in the world is Christian and thinks homosexuals are sinners or whatnot. Some people are born gay and you can’t change that, can you?
Oh yeah, thanks for the compliment again. I know that you weren’t trying to offend us. Asian Americans are just so sensitive because we constantly hear people talking about how nerdy and uncool we are and all. I even know some Asian kids who purposely tell people they got D’s and F’s when they are actually applying for HYP(Harvard, Yale, Princeton):)It’s just crazy.
And why would you want to move? I think Holland is a really cool country to live in. I love America and all, and this is my sweet homeland, but I’d really like to live in a liberal country. It’s really hard having to deal with people who think there is nothing wrong with our health care system everyday.
Btw, I’m 100% American, but you can say that I’m of Korean ancestry. All Americans except for Native Americans(or Indians) are from somewhere, but we all consider ourselves as Americans, not Koreans, Germans, Scottish, Mexican, African, etc. I think Dutch accents are sexy though! Americans girls love European accents. They sound so sexy!
