ah yes. Only 13
Warning: You need to use your brain to understand this post. Don’t skim over it.
It’s been a pretty long time since I wrote something on Only 13. As you guys know, I do not support Only 13 for a number of reasons(refer to my All15 page for further info). Even though we may be smaller in number compared to Only 13 supporters, no matter how they insult us, we’re not going to give up. We’ll keep supporting All 15.
Now, time for some funnnn:D
It’s surprising how there are few Only 13 ELFs who can state why she supports Only 13 in a logical way. Many of them would just simply call us noobs and track down our IP addresses. No offense if you’re an Only 13 activist. Maybe we can start the next anti-WTO protest together with our fellow punk friends and hope Noam Chomsky would defend us.
But before we start waving our black flag(I’m NOT an anarchist, btw;D), I’m going to have to list here the things that you don’t get about our revolutionary movement. I sincerely hope that this help you understand more of the Only 13 issue.
1. Leeteuk is a corporate slave.
Sorry for saying this, but Leeteuk is a corporate slave. You know how capitalism works for musicians, dear activist. Fortunately, he was born into a South Korean family, so his right to freedom of speech is protected. However, it’s up to The Man, aka Lee Sooman, to decide whether he should let Henry and Zhou Mi join the main group of not. Leeteuk, on the other hand, is a corporate slave, who has no right to decide on this issue. Just because he stated that he doesn’t like change, that doesn’t automatically mean that our kampf is over.
2. Henry and Zhou Mi are not loners, mind you.
I have a feeling that Super Junior members had wanted to bond together to nonconform to The Man’s absurd expectations. However, this bond is not just shared among the original thirteen members. The five original members in Super Junior M are very close to Henry and Zhou Mi. In addition, non-SJM members such as Sungmin are known for also sharing the Great Proletarian Brotherhood with the two members.
3. Nationalism is NOT the point.
We know how nationalism can eventually lead to dreaded fascism. The Korean Nationalism is very well acknowledged and practiced among Korean Only 13 supporters, and for the sake of social justice, we should end it now. Yes, we do have Hangeng, a Chinese member, in the original group, but it’s clear that Korean Only 13 supporters don’t want Super Junior to be 20% ethnic Chinese. Non-Korean Only 13 supporters do not understand the meaning behind this nationalism.
*Hangeng knows that nationalism is uncool. If he were a Tungus nationalist, he would be rioting against the Russian government now.
4. South Korea has a capitalist economy.
Even in non-capitalist economies, consumers don’t go around whining that a product sucks. They get refunds. If you think you have the right to act childish on this issue because you’re a consumer, you got the concept wrong. First of all, SM’s a corporation and their first and foremost interest is to make money. The market they’re targeting includes thousands and millions of non-Only 13er/ELF audiences. Do you think Only 13 ELFs are the only ones who watch Inkigayo? You guys are not the only consumers and SM should not have to amend their policy just to appeal to some four hundred thousand of people, assuming that 100% of ELFs agree with Only 13. That’s how free market works. Since it seems like you guys have so much issue with market economy, go protest free trade which is more beneficial to the humanity than sitting in front of your computer all day long whining about All15. If you, my fellow, as an Only 13 ELF, have a problem with the system, you should become a socialist punk or something, not a nationalist.
